English

The teaching of English develops skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Literature occupies a central position and we offer a wide range of books for children to read, at home and at school. This range includes a wide selection of fiction, poetry and information books. Our planning for English is based on the National Literacy Strategy.
Children are taught handwriting in accordance with the school's adopted scheme and this ensures progression as children move through the school. We believe in encouraging a high standard of presentation in children's work.
